K8の90nmプロセス、稼動した模様。

ということで、予定通り試作段階には入ったようです（←昨晩書く予定だったのに…）。しかし、この後今年Q2のSocket939立ち上げ＆普及もある訳ですから、実際90nmプロセスでシュリンクされたK8が普及するのは来年に入ってからかなぁ。
☆AMD expects commercial shipment of products made using the 90-nm process
to begin in the third quarter.
と記事中あるように年内発表・90n版Opteronリリースは堅守するでしょうけど。
この記事中で他に目を引く文言は、
☆The use of SOI at the 130-nm process node had reduced processor power
consumption to the 45-W to 55-W mark and that the shrink to 90-nm
would produce an additional benefit.
→現状より更に省電力化が見込めそう。Intelの90nmがあの状況だけに自ずと期待が…
☆90-nm process would come in with all the advanced features acquired
during previous generations.
→銅配線、BlackDiamond low-k、SOIを利用（後に歪みシリコンを採用予定）。Prescottでは採用されなかったSOIがどう影響するか、興味の出るところ。
